When the classic beauty of the West is encapsulated in the quiet color of ruby

As an interior designer, I believe that space can tell a story – and sometimes, a color palette, a curve, a material is enough to transport people back to a bygone era. Dark Ruby is a restaurant project where I chose to bring back the spirit of Western classicism, but in a deep, elegant and somewhat gloomy appearance – as its name suggests.

✦ Design concept: Red gem in the dark

“Ruby” – a deep red gemstone, symbolizing luxury, passion and eternity.

“Dark” – the opposite part, creating mystery, depth and inner tranquility.

The space of Dark Ruby revolves around the dialogue between ruby ​​red – charcoal black – antique bronze – dark wood. Wood-paneled walls, high ceilings with classic chandeliers, antique patterned stone floors, velvet chairs and smoky metal details help evoke a sense of royalty without being too ostentatious.

✦ Space: A classical European symphony

I divided the space into multiple layers of experience: from the formal gallery-like entrance, to the main dining area with its high ceilings, crystal chandeliers, and private spaces separated by wooden partitions or red velvet curtains. Each area is reminiscent of the banquet halls in ancient European castles, but is restrained to suit the pace of modern life – luxurious enough to impress, but warm enough to make diners want to come back.

Dark Ruby is more than just a place to eat – it’s an extension of the Western dining experience. Warm lighting, soft classical music, light wood scents and tactile materials stimulate the senses, transporting diners into a space where time seems to stand still.

Dark Ruby is a combination of nostalgia and class – a classic space that anyone who loves elegant and luxurious beauty wants to immerse themselves in at least once.
